For a few years now I’ve been lurking around on sewing blogs and in sewing communities (you’ll find some of my favorites in one of my later posts), I’m constantly inspired and blown away by creativity of all the sewers (the sewing kind not the plumbing kind) in the blogsphere. Sewing reall is the perfect outlet for right-brainers and left-brainers alike, it’s cheaper than therapy and much more rewarding. All you need is to equip yourself with a reliable sewing machine, a little imagination, and a lot of patience. It doesn’t hurt to have a good sewing reference book or easy access to the internet to help you quickly trouble shoot and find inspiration.
If you’re anything like me, I felt (and still do) overwhelmed by the concept of actually creating something – start to finish – from scratch…but that’s what makes it so fun, even mistakes are progress. Sewing is character building, good for the soul, and financially cleansing (although that may be debateable); not to mention it’s great exercise for your brain, there’s always something new to learn. The best part about it: you won’t have to make any fashion sacrifices. In fact, you’ll discover a more powerful sense of your own personal style than you probably realized existed. OK, I’m off the soap box and back in the sewing room.
So, WELCOME to my sewing room…time to create some great (and sometimes not so great) stuff!
